Ideally situated in Buffelsdrift, a private conservancy, in the greater Dinokeng area, borders on the Pienaarsriver, Ithumela is an easy 20 min drive from Pretoria central and 50 min from O.R. Tambo International Airport. Situated in a Malaria free area all the pleasures of being in the bush can be enjoyed here, without being totally out of reach. Cell phone reception is adequate and a telephone and a fax are available to sort out any emergencies. .

To maintain exclusivity, a maximum of 10 guests are allowed to visit at any given period.


Three, self catering, fully serviced cottages, with linen and towels are available for rent. Cottages are individually themed and unique, inspired décor gives each home its own feel and character that will appeal to all tastes and offers the opportunity to explore the delights each different one has to offer.

Every cottage has a private, covered patio with braai, dining and lounging facilities. Bigger cottages also have indoor fireplaces. Mosquito nets and fans are installed.

All are designed with open planned, fully equipped kitchens, dining areas and lounges. Main bedrooms all have en-suite bathrooms. Second bedrooms have private bathrooms with showers. Adding to a comfortable stay, all cottages are non-smoking and fitted with microwave ovens, electric blankets in winter, limited toiletries and hair driers. A safe, First-aid box, sewing kit, emergency toiletries, and iron and ironing board are available at reception.

Parking is open, but in the shade of beautiful old trees.

We have a strict catch and release policy for Bass and Kurper. We also have Rainbow Trout (800g - 2.1 kg). They can be kept for R120-00 each but we still prefer C&R. Please acquaint yourself with the proper way to do this. A leaflet in the cottage's file offers clear instructions on how this is done. Please kill the fish humanely if there is no way of reviving it and inform the manager. Fish taken from the river may be kept.  Cleaning fish can be conveniently done at an outside basin and table.

Cottages are situated in a tranquil water garden accessible even at night, when well placed lighting transforms it in a magical wonderland where fireflies dance in darker corners and around the small river, which meanders between 11 dams. Rolling lawns, a little copse, vlei, pecan nut orchard and herb garden with a French fountain and loveseat, all add to the ambiance. The small nursery lends even more to the character of the area.
